Ibrahim lives with his parents, sister, and brother in a one-room house in the village of Bathurst, located outside Freetown along the mountainous coast. The area is impoverished, with little to no clean water nor electricity. Coal mining and farming are the major sources of income for local residents.

Ibrahim's father is a retired military officer, and his mother is a housewife. Thus, Ibrahim's family relies solely on his father's monthly pension to survive.

Although Ibrahim lives in very poor conditions, he does very well in school and loves to play football. He hopes to become a professional driver someday.
