Isaiah lives with his dad and five siblings in a two-room house in the village of Bathurst, located just outside Freetown along the mountainous coast. His dad makes a meager living working the dangerous small-scale coal mines dotting the area. His mother passed away in the past year making it even more challenging for his dad to support all of the children. The village is very poor, lacking access to clean water or electricity, so studying at night is a challenge for Isaiah and his siblings. 

Isaiah attends the local primary school and is in class 4. He excels in Mathematics, English, and Creative practical art and loves to play football. He dreams of becoming a footballer when he grows up.
