John lives with his aunt, grandmother, and cousin in their family home, made of a single room and a parlor built with bricks and zinc roofing in the Banga Farm community Bo District- Southern Sierra Leone. Most homes are constructed of mud or brick with thatch and zinc roofing, which are unstable during a natural disaster.

Access to electricity and water for residents of the Banga Farm community is a daily challenge. Residents most often fetch water from the nearby river, wells, streams, and swamps.
